Excellent school. I attended kindergarten-5th grade right after it was built in the 80's.

My son attended Rancho Elementary from 1st-3rd. He had Ms.Retner who struggled to keep our son challenged and seemed put off by our sons energetic personality. I'd often pop in to volunteer and find our son outside of the classroom working on classwork, because Ms.Retner placed him outside the classroom...Simply because she didn't care to do her job properly, and teach! I don't know how placing a child outside the classroom would advocate for a child's growth & development in school. This isn't how it should be, especially not letting the parents know the child wasn't involved in the days classwork activities! We had constant parent teacher conferences due to his boredom in the classroom & her lack of keeping him in engaged & challenged. Second grade was more pleasant. His teacher was Mrs.Huhn. She was more involved with our son and worked with us to keep our son more engaged, and implemented preferred seating so he was more accountable for his boredom. Although we did have a few hiccups with his papers being graded unfairly, at one point. The teacher didn't accept the way our son wrote his, u's,n's, or a's...But that was resolved after a meeting with the teacher and principle. Another point I wanted to mention was him being limited to a certain level of reading per the teacher's own evaluation of where she thought the student should be, regardless if the student wanted to read above their AR level. Even though he would score 100% on the Accelerated readers test on books higher than his level, she ALWAYS deleted the scores and never seemed to encourage his growth in reading above the level suggested...Until, we met with Mrs.May and we agreed to encourage his reading. Regardless, she was still a good teacher overall, but would have liked a little more encouragement, and patience on her side in certain academic subjects. His third grade teacher has been one of my son's best teachers by far! Mrs. Thomas was exceptional to us, and challenged our son more than any other teacher has. She is well rounded and implemented the best structure for him. She is a very well prepared teacher and experienced with gifted students and those who may need a little more attention. She challenged our son, with her there was never boredom. He loved going to school, and learned so much from her. There was always something to do, whether it be in class or at home after the assigned work. She was very encouraging, and motivating! And loved how diverse her strategies were in order to keep the classroom/and each personality engaged! Loved how she encouraged reading and how reading was her #1 priority for homework. She always made it clear to the students and parents to let her know if homework became too easy or too difficult so she could adjust the amount of work or assignments sent home. All around an Amazing teacher! We were very sad when we had to move. Rancho Elementary overall is a good school. As for any school or child, as a parent we have to be their advocates! If we're not, no one else will. It's our duty to be involved and know where our child needs improvement, and where their talents are. And to make sure the teachers are aware & know how to encourage growth, and compliment their talents! I hope you have a good experience at Rancho, and enjoy the time like we did there.
