Not nearly as big as the Haight location, and way less clearance records/CDs (buy 3 get one free). But I did find some cool ECM and 12K CDs. And as always the staff were great. It’s a top tier store, it’s just a clear second to the SF Ameoba 🙂

Great selection! Prices are the going rate. Didn't see a bargain bin. But, again, very good selection of vinyl. Organized well too.

Very eclectic vinyls and CDs with mix of other merchandise. Bought $88 worth with $40 a mix album and the others clearance deals. $1.99- 7.99

Amoeba Records boasts an impressive selection of records and CDs, all priced comparably to online options. It's a great spot to spend some time browsing if you're in the area, especially if you're on the hunt for rare finds. While the store offers many unique records, particularly 'wall records' which I've occasionally splurged on due to their rarity, I've found that for new or common records, online shopping (like Discogs) often provides better value, especially considering my distance from the store. In terms of selling or trading at this location, my experience hasn't aligned with their advertised rates. Despite the website's claim of offering 50% in cash or 2/3 in trade value, I've generally received offers ranging from 1% to 25%. For example, I brought in an original mono press of the Doors' debut LP, which they sold for $100 in near same condition, fetched me an offer of less than a dollar. I was also told that my VG & VG+ records were "not in good condition." Similar experiences with other rare items I have attempted to trade in have led me to explore other options.Hercules on Alcatraz, for instance, has consistently offered me better trade-in values, typically between 75% to 90%. As someone who constantly buys massive collections year round, most of my trade-ins go to Hercules Records, cannot recommend them enough.I'm intrigued to see if the Amoeba store in San Francisco will offer a different experience and look forward to checking it out.
