Worth trying. The food is very cheap, and they have quite big portions. Don't expect anything from the service, dine here if you are looking for the food only. You need to pay $1 for the chilli oil, but it's worth it, one of the best chilli oil in Melbourne.

This is clearly a Melbourne favourite! The food was great, quick service and my 6 year old felt like a star when she was offered a little Disney card when leaving! The pork dumplings with spicy chilli oil were an absolute standout!

I visited Shanghai Village on a whim and with zero expectations, ignoring the worse-for-wear menu outside. Inside, the tables were quite nice and there's an online ordering system. You wouldn't visit Shanghai Village for the service or atmosphere, but the food was great value, including the dumplings, BBQ pork buns, and 'tofu skin prawn'. It's a minimal fuss, satisfying Chinatown experience.

An absolute hidden gem in Melbourne’s China Town! We were looking something to eat with a family. We stumbled across this little Chinese restaurant. It was incredibly busy inside the smells were exceptionally appealing! Don’t expect fancy dishes, service or experience. The food, however, is stand out! The small menu is full of absolutely delicious treats!! We would highly recommend the chicken and prawn steamed dumplings! A wonderful find!

Although the interior and exterior looked impressive, unfortunately the food was lacking. The staff also looked like they didn’t want to be there and served us without acknowledging us at all. Just placed it on the table and left. The wonton soup was awful, I don’t know what they did to the spinach, but it tasted like seaweed. The silken bean curd in chilli sauce did not have enough flavour and spice.I do recommend the custard egg buns, the Xiaolongbao and the fried rice, but I would not go here specifically for these dishes.Maybe they had a bad day when we came in, or a different chef to usual, but I wouldn’t recommend this place.
