The hotel grounds are beautiful as far as landscaping but the rooms are dated. There is no real door to the bathroom, they are slotted closet type doors. I love my husband very much but do not wish to hear his morning bathroom sounds and don’t wish for him to hear mine. Kind of gross.Nothing is within walking distance as indicated in the description so you will need to Uber or rent a car.Th grounds are not very handicapped or arthritic knee friendly. There are a lot of stairs and amenities are very far apart. The meals provided for conference attendees was horrible with stale bread and terrible sauces. The self-park fee of $40/day for on top of $40 day resort fee (which we couldn’t really even use because of sub-par weather) is uncalled for. The parking lot is so far away from rooms. We had trouble regulating room temperature due to poor quality and large space in door. The hotel is in the flight path of John Wayne airport so expect a lot of airplane noise. As we were part of a conference, we didn’t choose to stay here and would not return by choice.

I was recently in Tahiti, and for some reason, this place reminds me of my stay. The guys at the valet are super cool and very professional. My check-in was extremely efficient, and the ladies were very sweet. It's only my 1st day here. But I can see that I will be using the pool and facilities for the next 3 days.

Update after 2 weeks: despite Cathy’s “escalation” I’ve received no outreach from hotel management.I've stayed at Hyatt hotels as one of their most frequent guests (Globalist for over 10 years, 600+ nights lifetime) and have stayed at the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach multiple times since 2014. On my most recent stay (March 2024), we left a wallet in the room with a $100 bill inside of it, taking only an ID/credit card with us while we visited Catalina Island for the day. We came back to find the $100 bill missing. This was reported to front line hotel management, which did little to remedy the situation during our stay. After the stay, I sent an email to the hotel's General Manager to provide an opportunity to address the incident. As I write this review (1 week later), I have received no response. While I understand theft is difficult to prove, the fact is $100 went missing from a wallet inside our room (#328), the only entry into our room on the day the $100 went missing (as confirmed by a room key audit) was by a housekeeper, and as compensation we were offered 5000 Hyatt points (which, for those who may not know the value of Hyatt points, is worth virtually nothing). It's disappointing that this property has gone so far downhill since my first stay here 10 years ago. I could have stomached an aging property, poor service, and no recognition of loyalty, without posting a review. But potential theft by hotel staff, met with zero response from the property's upper management, is something that other travelers should heed warning to before they decide to stay here.I should note, Hyatt is truly a fantastic hotel chain overall, as evidenced by my loyalty to the brand for 10+ years running. Unfortunately, the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach is an outlier, and not representative of most Hyatt properties.

Staff is nice.Rooms need deep cleaning. Our room was the 1 King with pull out couch which we were going to use for our daughter. It was dirty with trash and crumbs. The pictures I posted are from when we pulled out matress. Meaning they never changed sheets from prior guests. I called front desk they sent new sheets etc. My daughter did not want to sleep on Couch/bed as she was disgusted. 3 of us slept in 1 bed. Next day I requested for them to come take old sheets etc and make the couch/bed. They dropped off sheets while we were gone and didn't make bed. I called again , they said someone would come. They dropped off more sheets🤦‍♀️. I gave up and made bed, it was ripped at bottom and springs showing through. Very uncomfortable. We had my 10 year old sleep on bed with us as you were litterally laying on springs. Towels very old.Housekeeper did not clean thoroughly . Bikes and golfing closed. Upon check out we had. 30.00 breakfast charge. We never ordered. I called and they spoke to kitchen, stated it was a mistake and they would remove. The gym is nice and it is overall a nice place. But they need to work on cleanliness. Would I stay again ? I would not pay to stay again. This time I used my points only reason we chose this place.

Room was comfortable, but shower head is too low. Bathroom door didn't stay closed/did not have a lock. Layout of hotel and parking is awkward but they offer golf cart service at valet to take you to self parking.Pitch n putt included with stay. Breakfast staff was excellent, our servers Felix and Juan were especially helpful. Some noise from airplanes due to proximity to airport but did not affect our stay. Close to Fashion Island.Recommend to visit Balboa Island or enjoy a walk from Inspiration Point. Gorgeous down by the beach!
